Easy vegan french toasts

No flax seeds or chia seeds are involved in this recipe at all! Who would’ve thought it was so easy to make vegan french toasts?

They are easy and packed with cinnamon flavour. They are the perfect special breakfast on a cold winter morning. Plus they save your stale bread!

You only need a few common ingredients, so they are not expensive or fancy. Just really, really yummy.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 slices of stale bread (1 or 2 days old)
  • 6 tbs of plain flour
  • 1/2 cup of veggie milk or water
  • 1 tbs of sugar (plus some more to caramelise on the pan)
  • Vanilla and cinnamon to taste
  • 2 tsp vegan butter or oil (like coconut oil maybe) to grease the pan

PROCEDURE

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl, then add the water (or mylk).

Whisk everything until well mixed.

Cut your four slices of bread. I haven’t tried with fresh bread but I guess it could work. If you try and it turns out nice, just let us know in the comments below!

Dips the bread in the batter and let it soak for a minute while you turn on a pan on medium high heat.

Add the vegan butter to the hot pan and place the bread slices in the hot pan. They have to be well coated, but without too much excess batter. Don’t move them around the pan at first, or they will stick to it.

Once they are golden brown and you are ready to flip them around, sprinkle some sugar on top right before you do. This will caramelise and make them extra yummy.

Repeat the process a few times until they are brown and crispy enough.

Serve them with chocolate or maple syrup, fruit, nuts, nut butter, seeds, more cinnamon… Whatever you fancy!

Don’t they look amazing?
